Pandemic Wedding Woes

These last few weeks have been challenging for the entire world. During this unprecedented time, we’ve witnessed closures, cancellations, and postponements. Feelings of immeasurable distress have filled many hearts, as we experience our sense of normalcy dissipating on a daily basis. Little by little, hour by hour, we’re losing a part of what makes us human.

We are social beings who thrive on interacting with others. Seeing the cancellation of all that we commemorate has been hard on everyone, especially those who were planning to get married this spring. Marriage is a celebration that brings together friends and family from all over the country and sometimes from across the world. We all know how much work goes into planning a wedding ceremony and reception. Couples spend months preparing for their special day, which is why it’s been so hard seeing the frustration that these couples have been dealt.

During this unparalleled time, it’s important to remember two things:

  1.  While the party may be temporarily halted, your love didn’t hit pause. Don’t lose sight of the true meaning of marriage. Instead, shift your focus to celebrating two souls coming together to create one love. Cherish the time you have with your partner and treasure the love that you share. In due time, life will go on and you will be able to celebrate your wedding with all of your friends and family in attendance.
  2. If you and your fiancé can make it through this pandemic, you can make it through anything; even figuring out who should sit next to each other at the reception.

Keep calm and marry on!

COVID-19 Information

During this unprecedented time, we just want to share a few updates and express our gratitude to all of the medical professionals who are bravely fighting this pandemic. We also want to express our appreciation to all delivery drivers, grocery store employees and those who are making sure Americans have the supplies and food they need during this pandemic.

At this time, the Scoular Ballroom is closed to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. If you have an upcoming event or you’re looking for more information regarding hosting your 2020 event at the Scoular Ballroom, please email ballroom@scoularballroom.com.

We’ve decided to extend our March promotion through December 31, 2020. All remaining 2020 Saturdays rent for $2,020. We will also be offering discounted rates for Friday and Sunday events in 2020. Please contact us to check on availability. We look forward to celebrating your special occasion soon!

The Engaged Brunch

Don’t miss your opportunity to attend Omaha’s interactive wedding planning experience for newly engaged couples happening on Jan. 25, 2020 from 10 am-noon at the Scoular Ballroom!

If you’re tired of the traditional bridal shows where all you do is collect pamphlets as you maneuver through a sea of potential vendors, then this event is for you. Don’t just observe; be apart of the wedding planning experience!

The Engaged Brunch will feature interactive stations from some of Omaha’s best wedding vendors, plus brunch bites and drinks from Attitude on Food and Catering Creations.

What’s an interactive station? We’re glad you asked! During the event, you’ll be able to walk away with more than a business card. Instead, you’ll leave with an experience and lots of wedding goodies!

Participate in a cupcake and frosting pairing! Try a protein donut and cold-pressed juices. Grab a coffee or smoothie! Watch a live event painter in action. Build your own mini bouquet and learn how to pin a boutonniere. Get some false lashes put on and have your hair styled in a braid. Enjoy live entertainment and take a ballroom dance lesson. You can also have your portrait professionally taken. Don’t forget the photo and wax seal station. Finally, unwind after the event by attending a yoga session focused on reducing stress during wedding planning.

There will also be a panel discussion featuring local wedding experts. These experts will be available to answer all of your wedding planning questions.

Check out the schedule:

9 am: The Engaged Brunch ticket holders can opt to take one of the complimentary fitness classes offered by the Pinnacle Fitness Club on Jan. 25. There’s a 9 am boxing boot camp or a 9:15 am spin class. Pre-registration is required. Please email Ballroom@ScoularBallroom.com. Space is limited.

10 am: Doors open; interactive stations and brunch commence
